Elvira M Salazar Known to many as “Vera, Nana, Grandma Red, Mama” Vera Salazar quietly slipped away to be with her Lord Savior in her home surrounded by love and comfort of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren on January 22nd, 2022, at the age of 89. Vera was born on March 04, 1932 to Mr. Lorenzo and Maria Juarez in Worland, Wyoming. She then relocated with her family in 1963 to Wapato WA. Vera called Wapato her home, until she passed. Vera loved being a wife and mother she had twelve children. Vera was a kind soul and Prayer Warrior and a lady after the Lords presence. She was a longtime member of the Spanish Assembly of God church. Vera also attended the Iglesia Del Valle in Toppenish. In 2008 Vera started to receive services of home care by her granddaughter Krissy Valdez. Over the years she continued to have these services offered to her. Vera interest and hobbies were diverse – She loved listening to the word, if you took time to read the Bible she was there with no hesitation, she loved to worship all day if she could. Vera enjoyed cooking especially for her family nana always had food ready for visitors her specialties were oatmeal, cream a wheat, meatloaf, tuna casserole, Albondigas, Fresh Chorizo, Clam Chowder and late nights to Minors with whoever would get her there. Grandma always had beans and tortillas. Vera loved being in her garden attending to her vegetables and fruits. She also had a beautiful garden of many different kinds of flowers, that took up most of her evenings in the Spring and Summer in her younger days. She adored her pets starting with cat, then she had a patriot later she had 2 dogs duke and fido, man those two gave her a run for her money. Vera crotched all of her life and for everyone if I’m accurate she crotched more than 100 blanket/outfits just for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nana spent time journaling in notebooks about everything her day consist of like the weather, her visits, scriptures and every now and then the news she was a faithful new watcher at Noon, 5pm and 10pm. She was always ready for some church on TV as well. Little do some people know Nana also had a fun and spontaneous side of her yup she loved to play cards, She loved to play dolls and dress-up that is something she always made sure we was got to do on our weekends together. She enjoyed trips and get aways, Nana favorite saying was “ yo no tengo rey oh roc que mandi.” Vera is preceded in death by her children Mary, Manuel, Kenny, Jesse and great grandchildren Aaron and Gabriel. Vera is survived by five daughters, Virginia (Pete) Romero of Wapato, Esther (Victor) Valle of Grandview, Delores (Nicholas) Vela of Pasco, Annette (Gregorio) Garza of Yakima, Krystyna (Juan Carlos) Morales of Selah and four sons, John (Casimira) Escobedo of Vancouver WA, Michael (Carrie) Romero of Wapato, Jess (Karla) Salazar of Federal Way and Ermelindo (Susan) Escobedo of Little Rock, along with 27 Grandchildren, 66 Great- Grandchildren and 28 Great-Great Grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, February 4, 2022, at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah WA (607 2nd Ave, Zillah WA 98953 ). Viewing will start 9am-10am Family only, Public viewing 10am-11am and following with be the burial.
