Wesley John Williams,32, was born September 26, 1992 in Yakima, Washington to Joyce Paula and Carnegie Williams. He was called Home on June 9, 2025. Wesley attended school in Toppenish, WA. Growing up he loved the game of basketball, playing with different local teams. He was an accomplished Varsity player for the Toppenish Wildcats and was a part of a select team of Native ball players from various local schools who came together to form a team that competed at the highest levels of National Native American Basketball. In 2011 this Yakama Team attended the Native American Basketball Invitational (NABI) in Arizona, where they advanced to the Championship game and won it all. The team went on to the Native World Basketball tournament in Hawaii that same year and walked away with that Championship. Being a part of this successful team was a huge achievement in Wesley's life and he was admired greatly in his family and in his community for his basketball skills and his contagious smile. He will be missed by many.
Wes worked various jobs, including Forestry and forklift driving at local warehouses.
Wes is survived by his parents, as well as his daughter Kylie. He also leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law, Simone and Wilde Owens-Gonzales, sister Margaret Williams, brother Patrick Williams, his nieces Natalie, Marissa, Analysia and nephew Wilde, Jr., all of Toppenish, as well as his nephew Romeo Arroyo of the Tri-Cities. His Grandfather Hank Williams of Marysville, WA also survives him.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Jim and Barbara Blodgett, Marie Smartlowit, his Aunt Monica Smartlowit, Uncle Elmer Williams, his niece Allena Owens-Gonzales and sister Shana Marie Williams.
Graveside Services will be 11:00 am Monday June 16, 2025 at Reservation Cemetery, Wapato, WA. A Potluck dinner will follow at Toppenish Community Center.
