Marvin Eugene Koop, 85, passed away on June 17, 2025, in Yakima, Washington. Born

on May 30, 1940, in Boise, Idaho, Marvin was a cherished member of the community

known for his deep-rooted love for sports and his dedication to service organizations.

A proud veteran, Marvin served in the U.S. Army, where he developed a profound

sense of duty and camaraderie. After his military service, he continued to foster

community connections through his active involvement with the Eagles Lodge 289 and

VFW Post 379. Marvin joined the Eagles 289 on 8/26/1969.

On May 23 2025 Marvin was honored with the Quilt of Valor at the VFW which he was 

very happy to receive.

Whenever asked how he was doing, Marvin would reply "Staying in Trouble".

His passion for travel often took him on the road to many states including Alaska,

Illinois, Wisconsin, and many others. He would travel with his late friend Leo (who

recently passed) across the state to various Eagle clubs to sell raffle tickets. Now they

are both selling raffle tickets to the angels, with a cold beer in their hands.

Marvin always put service above self.

Marvin graduated from Davis High School in 1958, further anchoring his lifelong ties to

the area. He was a familiar face and a friend to many, leaving behind a legacy of

warmth and loyalty.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Koop; his sister, Mavis

Hoxie; and brothers, John Lee, Earle, Dale, and Lyle Koop.

He is survived by his nieces Diana (Andy) Boen, Tammy Dove, and Tina Hoxie, along

with his nephews Jim Koop and Dan Hoxie.

Marvin's life was marked by his enduring dedication to his family, friends, and fellow

veterans. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind memories filled

with laughter, generosity, and an indomitable spirit.

A service to honor Marvin's life will be held at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, located

at 307 W Chestnut Ave, Yakima on July 12th , 2025 at 1pm. The Valley Hills Funeral

Home in Yakima, WA, is overseeing the arrangements. Military graveside is at 2pm on,

July 11th at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.--
