ZOEL WALTER MORIN loving and cherished husband, father, son, brother, and friend was taken unexpectedly to be with by our Lord Jesus Christ on August 27, 2014. He will be forever loved, cherished and missed.
Zoel was born July 4, 1966 in Hinton, Alberta, Canada to Len and Chrissie Morin. He was raised in Langley, British Columbia, Canada as the rambunctious prankster and youngest of 4 siblings. Our “Zoomaster” was never one to sit still from the moment he could crawl. He bounded from his rocking horse to bicycle, to dirt bike, to his rebuilt ’66 Malibu. Even the severe car accident as a teen where God spared him did not deter him from his zest for life. He was a Rugby player and traveled with the Canadian Willoughby High Rugby team to Europe to play, and loved swimming and downhill skiing. He was active in his church and Christian faith throughout his youth. Zoel was a gifted saxophone player who also played in a Christian Jazz band. In his early 20’s, he earned his Bachelor in Engineering. In 1994 he married Rose (Wolfe) Morin and started his own family. Zoel and Rose had two sons together.
Zoel moved his family to Yakima, WA in 1999 to pursue his career as a Truss Designer. Zoel was involved in West Valley land development and new home construction with the company he and his father created. He was blessed with a brilliant mind that allowed him to see the world from a different perspective. It made him a great visionary, builder and truss designer. He was involved in many local activities with his sons including Karate, where he excelled and achieved his black belt. He was also involved in his beloved sport of Rugby. He encouraged the initiation of our local Rugby team, The Yakima Griffins, and was so proud that both of his sons were able to follow in his footsteps and play Rugby. He loved attending the games and photographing his sons in play. He was active in his church especially with the children’s events. Throughout his life he seldom missed an occasion to spend time with his family and friends where his animated story telling was always a joy.
In 2011, he married his wife, Sandy (Moore-Doyle) Morin. Together they enjoyed theatre, concerts, movies, BBQing, and camping with their blended family of Sandy’s 2 daughters and Zoel’s 2 sons. Zoel and Sandy shared a deep friendship and love for one another and cherished their time together.
Zoel is survived by his wife, Sandy Morin, his sons, Colby Morin and Riley Morin, his step-daughters, Reily Moore and Brennah Moore, all of Yakima; His parents, Len and Chrissie Morin, his 3 siblings. Deanna (Mark) McRae, Tammy (Gary) Morin-Nakashima, and Len (Jan) Morin, all of British Columbia, Canada, numerous Uncles, Aunts, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, September 3rd at 11:00am at the West Valley Four Square Church (56th and Summitview). Reception will follow the service. A second service will be held in BC, Canada on 9/13/14.
The family would like to thank all of their and Zoel’s friends for the strong support and prayer during this time of grief.
Love ya Babe!
