Winfred Songer

Winfred Gail Songer, 84, peacefully passed away on Tuesday November 11, 2014. He was born on July 1, 1930 in Williston, North Dakota. His younger years were spent in North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana, he then moved to his family to Washington in 1964 for the opportunity to work for Lockheed Shipyard. He also worked many years as a pipe fitter. In 1983 he moved his family to Selah where he lived until his death. He served in the Armed Forces and was active in the Eagles. Winfred is preceded in death by his wife Loretta of 56 years and his son Leonard. He is survived by his children, Barb (Doug) Lomax of B.C., Denise (Jerry) Pike, Bellingham, WA, Louis (Cathie) Songer, Selah, WA and Paul Songer Bellingham, WA, 8 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date where his ashes and his wife’s ashes will be laid to rest together. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima is in care of the arrangements.
