William Mcentire

April 8, 1938 — April 25, 2023

William Eugene “Billy” McEntire April 8th 1938- April 25th 2023 Bill McEntire 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 25th,2023 surrounded by ones he loved. Born April 8th 1938 in Okmulgee Oklahoma, Bill is survived by his sweetheart, babydoll and the absolute love of his life LaVerne McEntire. The two were wed April 11th 1958 on laundry day. His children Rhonda Crow (spouse Marion Crow), Terry McEntire (spouse Mary Jo McEntire), Cary McEntire (spouse Mary McEntire) and Shannon McEntire (spouse Bennie McEntire), numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Five generations who have the honor of living under the legacy he left behind. A friend, brother, uncle, cousin and as many know him, pastor. From humble beginnings born in the Great Depression, Bill worked in the fruit industry to put food on the table alongside his wife LaVerne, they labored as one. His journey from Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Yakima, Washington would leave a legacy of Christ behind to his family and all that had the privilege of encountering him. Bill gave his life to Christ in the fall of 1966 and later took the role of pastoralship in 1970. Bill and LaVerne would build their life together on the foundation of the gospel. An inseparable pair, Bill loved to hear his honey sing the many songs she had written over the years and often referred to her as his George Beverly Shea. You never saw one without the other. His partner in the gospel and his partner in life. Bill had such a passion for politics, boxing, baseball, old western movies, and a real love for classic cars. He was a true Ford man. He took the scripture of Luke 9:62 to heart. Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” He modeled his life by this scripture and did kingdom work right alongside LaVerne. There was not a time he was seen turning away a hungry mouth to feed, not a time he was seen too embarrassed to minister the gospel, not a time he was seen uttering a harsh word. He never had the time to throw stones because he was too busy washing feet. The lives he touched, the gospel he preached, the joy he shared, the love he bestowed, the mantle that rested on him will never be forgotten. If Bill were still here, he would say “the best is yet to come!” A celebration of Pastor Bills life will be held May 6th 2023 at Breakthrough Church 1220 Business Parkway Union Gap Wa 98903 at 11:00am. A grave side service will follow at West Hills Memorial Park. Valley Hills Funeral Home is caring for the family.
