William King

February 3, 1943 — November 7, 2015

William “Bill” King Jr., 72, of Yakima, peacefully passed away on November 7th, 2015, at the Cottage in the Meadow. Bill’s family moved to Yakima about 1956. He attended Washington Jr. High School, Davis High School, and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1960. After 6 years of dating, he married Willamae Renfrow from Yakima. They just recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. They have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. He attended College at Northwest College (University) in Kirkland, WA. He graduated in 1967 with a THB in Theology. He spent 10 years in the ministry. He pastored in Walla Walla, WA at the First Assembly of God, as an associate pastor. Then to Richland, WA at the Assembly of God church, as youth pastor. Later to Harrah, WA as pastor of the Assembly of God Church. Then finally to Stone Church in Yakima, as youth pastor. After that he pursued many occupations, sometimes with his own business. He’d say “jack of all trades, but master of none.” We never agreed with that. He was a MASTER of any trade he pursued: insurance, real estate, construction, carpentry, iron work, pool construction, steel structures, project manager, too many to list. Bill was an avid sportsman. He was passionate about water sports; boating, skiing, scuba diving, and fishing. He was an avid motorcycle rider. He’d proudly ride his Honda with a group of Harleys. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and snow skiing. He also had his pilot license and flew his own plane. He truly loved life! He attended Stone Church and participated in many musical performances. As a teen he sang with the Kingsmen Quartet and youth ministries. Later with the choir in the singing tree, children’s’ musical performances, and sang often with his wife and family. He loved Christian music, especially hymns. He will be greatly missed. Bill is survived by his wife, Willamae King, of Yakima, WA, their daughter, Gina Steen, and her husband, Eric Steen (and their children, Jayme, Denton, Phillip), of Yakima, WA, and their son Sean King, his wife, Rebecca King, (and their children Blake and Kennedy), of Marysville, WA. He is also survived by his brothers, David King, Ronald King, both of Yakima, WA and Roger King of Colorado, as well as his sister, Marlyn King of Yakima, WA, along with a large extended family. Bill is preceded in death by his parents William and Margaret King, and his sister Margaret Leona McCullough as well as other family members. Visitation is planned for Friday from 1:00PM – 5:00PM at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima. A celebration of life is planned for Saturday November 14th at 9:30AM beginning with a donut and coffee reception at 9:00AM, followed by burial at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Valley Hills Funeral Home is caring for the family. Online condolences may be left at www.valleyhillsfh.com.
