Wayne J Norman
Galatians 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Wayne had a strong faith in the saving grace of Jesus Christ and is now at home with Him in Heaven. Wayne was an elder in the Harrah Community Church and a member for over seventy years. He lived a life that exemplified the fruit of the Spirit.
Wayne was born to John Mark and Hattie Norman on April 20th, 1934 in Parker Bottom, Washington at the home of his Maternal Grandparents Fred and Louisa Robinson. They took him home to the family farm outside of White Swan where he was raised.
Wayne attended White Swan Schools and graduated from White Swan High School in 1952.
Wayne married Lusetta Powers, the love of his life, on September 5th 1952. Together they raised six children on the family farm. Dad and Mom built a home for their family and welcomed any and all visitors and their children’s friends. There was always a place at the table for one more.
Wayne supported his family by farming with his Father and on other local farms until he began working at Associated Grocers, first in the warehouse and later as a truck driver, delivering groceries all over the states of Washington and Oregon. He made many friends along the way, stopping at local cafes and out of the way diners, drinking coffee and sharing meals. He retired from Associated Grocers in 1991.
Wayne loved to hunt and fish and be in the mountains for any reason. In his younger days he helped feed his family by the game he brought home (and had to clean himself). He taught his children to hunt and fish and to target shoot as soon they were old enough to handle a gun.
Dad had a great sense of humor. When Mom was away cooking for the Youth for Christ camp during the summer, Dad would have water fights with those of us at home. He would ambush an unsuspecting child with a pitcher of water out the second story window or with a water gun in the house, with all the mess cleaned up before Mom returned home.
Wayne peacefully went to be with Jesus surrounded by his family on January 27th, 2023.
