Walter L. “Wally” Wolf

Walter L. “Wally” Wolf, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 11.

Wally was born in 1938 in New England, North Dakota, to Frank and Otelia Wolf. In the third grade, his family moved to Zillah, Washington, which became his lifelong home. He graduated from Zillah High School in 1956.

On June 24, 1961, Wally married the love of his life, Betty. Together they built a beautiful life filled with family, hard work, horses, farming, and countless memories. In June, they celebrated an incredible 65 years of marriage—a testament to the love and devotion they shared throughout their lives.

Wally spent 40 years working as a carpenter in the construction field, taking pride in his work and in providing for his family.

Outside of construction, his greatest passions included breeding, training and racing Appaloosas, Quarter Horses, and Thoroughbreds. He also enjoyed farming and watching sports.

Above all, Wally was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; his son, Larry (LeAnne)Wolf, and his daughter, Charmie Thornton. He also leaves behind his three grandchildren, Ashleigh Pulse, Jessica (Brian) Koestler, and Riley (Kristi) Wolf; and four great-grandchildren, Boone, Lainey, Greyson, and Cameron, who brought great joy and pride to his life.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Otelia Wolf; his siblings; and his son-in-law, Dave Thornton.

Wally will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. His legacy will live on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched throughout his 88 years.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Zillah Cemetery, immediately followed by a gathering and refreshments at the Zillah Civic Center.
