Walt was born on June 26, 1927 in Duncan Town, Illinois and passed away peacefully at Cottage in the Meadow on the morning of January 25, 2018 at the age of 90.
Walt grew up in the Parker/Wapato area and graduated from Wapato High School. He married Bardeena Brooks on January 18, 1948 and they had three children; Dennis, Connie and Robert (Bob).
He was a family man and a businessman. His professional life centered on the wood products industry. He worked for Yakima Lumber and Box, Layman Lumber (Naches) and Wellons Inc. (Sherwood, OR). During his employment at Wellons, he had the opportunity to travel all over the U.S., Canada, and even Ireland. His love for wood transcended into a hobby that could turn an ordinary piece of wood into exquisite pieces of furniture, banks, boxes, baby cribs and more. He was also an avid fisherman and occasional hunter.
He is survived by his wife of seventy years Bardeena; one sister, Nadine Campbell; his 3 children; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett J. Boyd and Florence (Yokum) Boyd; brother, Arlo Boyd, and his sister, Ruth Gangl/Brendale.
A very special thanks to Cottage in the Meadow for their kindness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Valley Hills Funeral Home (2600 Business Ln., Yakima).
