Vivian N. Lloyd, age 93 entered into God’s Loving Arms on March 17, 2017. She was born December 8, 1923 in Merriman, Nebraska. The family had 9 girls and 4 boys and being the next to the oldest she became a terrific Surrogate mom. The family moved to Buell, Idaho in 1929 and then to Grangeville Idaho in 1934. The family later settled in Yakima, WA where she met and married Elbert Hendrickson when she was 17.
She had several jobs the first was in Chicago at a clothing factory making Military uniforms during the War while she was visiting her husband who was in the Navy. When she returned home to Yakima she worked in a Hat Shop and in both J.C. Penney stores.
In 1956 she moved to Buckley, met and married Charles Lloyd. Her next job was at Rainier State school where she was injured requiring surgery and could no longer work. After 3 back surgeries and a long recuperating time she was able to volunteer at Northwest Trek, a wild animal park just outside of Eatonville, WA. Their favorite time of the year was Spring because that’s when all the baby animals were born. Her favorite was a tiny porcupine that she fed with a bottle. That baby porcupine really thrived with all the attention the docents lavished on it.
Vivian lost her husband Charles when she was 70 and at that time she moved back to Yakima to be with her family here. She found a wonderful home and good friends at Living Care Retirement Center. The last 3 years were spent at the Summitview Healthcare Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Rose Greff, 7 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her son Elbert Hendrickson; sisters Janice (Lee) Gipson, and Ginger Fisher of Yakima; and brothers Grover Gregg and Thad (Colleen) Gregg of Graham, WA.
A Memorial Service will be 1:00pm Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Meyer Auditorium (Living Care Retirement Community, 215 N. 40th Ave., Yakima).
