Virginia Vandersluis

Virginia (Gini) Nalley Vandersluis was born on December 16, 1958 in Yakima, Washington and passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on December 31, 2024 in Zillah, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Patricia Nalley, and nephews Mark Jordan and Stephen Vandersluis. She is survived by her husband Russell Vandersluis, her son Bryce Vandersluis, her brother Charles Nalley, Burien, WA, her sister Diane Jordan of Nampa, ID and several nieces and nephews. Gini was the middle child of Marvin and Patricia Nalley. She had an older sister Diane and younger brother Charles. The family during her childhood lived on apple ranches in Naches and Tieton. Gini graduated from Highland High School in 1976. She attended Washington State University and completed a Bachelor degree in Horticulture in 1984. She also completed her Bachelor of Accounting in 2010. Gini moved to the Zillah area to work and there met Russell Vandersluis. They were married on January 26, 1985. In August 1997 their son Bryce joined the family. She worked 32 years for the State of Washington in several capacities - Fruit and Vegetable Inspector, Nursery Stock Inspector and Accounting Technician. Gini had many interests that she enjoyed. She loved traveling, camping and hiking with family and friends. She loved animals, particularly cats and Dachshunds, that she and Russ raised for several years. She loved to sew and cross-stitch. Gini participated many years in Bible Study Fellowship and Toastmasters. She also attended and served at Grace Brethern Church in Toppenish. A Celebration of Life is planned for March 8, 2025 at 10:00am at Grace Brethern Church, 507 South Juniper, Toppenish, WA. In honor of Gini's eternal life and her love of flowers, we encourage the wearing of spring colors as we celebrate her life.
