Virginia Lee Mitchell, valiant daughter of God, faithful servant of the Lord,
and daughter to Robert H. Alcorn and Phyllis J. Fetter passed away on
 August 6, 2023, following a brief illness.
Virginia, “Ginnie” as she preferred to be called, was born May 17, 1950,
in Havre, Montana to Robert and Phyllis Alcorn. Loved by all, respected
by so many, Ginnie lived her life methodically and purposefully. As a
daughter, we watched how mother cared for her ailing father until his
death. As a mother, we watched her faithfully endure many trials, most
not of her making, yet come out the other side more determined than
ever. She supported her children through every phase of life, never
ceasing to parent when others might have. As a grandmother, we
listened to stories, watched example after example of selfless service.
Whether it be sewing, gardening, cooking, playing the piano, crocheting,
or engaging in genealogy, Ginnie’s worn hands were never indolent. She
was ever on the Lord’s errand. However, in her later years, genealogy
became her passion. Her fingers were never so idle that someone
beyond the veil couldn’t reach out and guide her to that ‘missing link.’
We will forever miss her miraculous stories of faith and ‘family ties’
 extending beyond the grave.
As our mother and grandmother’s health declined, she never wavered in
faith. Teaching us about the Lord’s kingdom and purposes, imparting the
wisdom needed to inspire many to seek out and engage in genealogy for
those beyond the veil, Ginnie found ways to serve even when impaired
strength limited her footsteps and resilience. Ginnie will be deeply
missed, but we find comfort in knowing she is surrounded by loved ones.
