Violet Ann Wahsise, a cherished member of the Yakama Nation and descendant of the Northern Arapaho, passed away on December 21, 2024. She was 39 years old.
Born on December 10, 1985 in Toppenish, WA, Violet grew up on the Yakama reservation. She was the beloved daughter of Melissa Martin and Stan Wahsise.
Violet’s greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her children, Tyson Starr, Le Anthony John, Alliah John, Ne'sha John, Kendrick Wahsise, and Gianna Wahsise; her grandmother, Violet Denman; mother, Melissa Martin (Bob Stahi); grandfather Fred Martin; father, Stan Wahsise; grandmother, Jovita Colwash; brother, Marcus Wahsise; sister, Felicia Ramirez (Pat); brother, Daniel Ramirez; sister, Missy Ramirez (Chris); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her love for dancing, singing, and cooking to gather others reflected her vibrant spirit.
Violet’s radiant smile, infectious laugh, and unwavering strength will never be forgotten. She will be remembered as a loving mother, and devoted friend. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Traditional overnight services will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Toppenish Longhouse with dressing services beginning at 11 am. Family and friends are welcome to gather to honor Violet’s life. Burial will take place at Colwash Cemetery in White Swan, Wednesday morning, January 1, 2025.
