Viola L Sohappy “Te - Kun - Kush” Viola lived a very good life. Born on November 24, 1941, in Wapato, Washington to Atwai Frank Sohappy and Julia Pims Sohappy. Viola left us on April 2, 2022, surrounded by her daughter, grandkids, and family. Viola attended Chemaw Boarding School but graduated from Wapato High School. She then attended Business Colleges in Yakima, Washington and in Portland, Oregon. Viola began to work in BIA Forestry in 1972 and met her husband, Richard E. French. They were blessed with a daughter, Tess N. French, in 1968 and a son, Jackson E. French, in 1971. During their life together the family had ventured to Pullman, Washington White Swan, Washington, White Mountain, Arizona and then Aberdeen, Washington. Then on May 31, 1968, Viola started to work with Toppenish Indian Health Service for 35 years and 5 months and took an early retirement in October 31, 2003. Viola, loved to gather the traditional foods for the feast watching her Kata’s in school sports, rodeos, and being with family at family gatherings. Viola, leaves her loved ones: sister LaRena B. Sohappy; daughter, Tess - Sockzehigh (Darwin Sockzehigh); son, Jackson French; her Kata’s, Joseph and Tyrell French, (Andrea) Austin Kicking Woman, Triselle French - Sockzehigh, and Richard French - Sockzehigh; Great Kata's Jaqle N. French, Jester, Noelle Viola, and Noah Robert French. Viola Sohappy rejoices with her parents, Frank and Julia Sohappy, sisters, Lena Owens, Laritta Yallup, Amelia Sohappy, and one grandson, Noah French.
