Vincent Edmund Heilman, born June 11, 1955, went home peacefully in his sleep on Monday, March 18th, 2024.
Born and raised in Yakima, Vince was a graduate of Carrol High School class of 1974. After he graduated, he went to work as a mechanic in the automotive industry. He was a Certified ASE Master Technician for General Motors before he retired in 2020.
Vince lived by the philosophy that one ought to work to live, but not live to work. He kept his life rich by hosting events and feeding everyone he could find. His free time was vibrant with many hobbies including gardening, model building, and 3D printing. Fiercely loving and unapologetically himself, Vince made friends and memories wherever he went. He was incredibly smart, effortlessly funny, deeply joyful, wonderfully talented, and steadfastly capable. He loved jazz, movies, board games, and fourth meals. He had a beautiful (if secret) singing voice, a special tomato-picking basket, and he was never too busy for a hug. His home was a safe home, and his open-door policy ensured his loved ones had a place to stay.
His was a dedicated husband and father. He never missed a game, a play, or an opportunity to co-chair a fundraiser for his children. If ever his siblings needed anything, Vince was first to volunteer to help. For his friends, he was a roadie, a best man, a carpenter, a drywall hanger, a handyman, and a bartender.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 34 years, Shauna (nee Sutton), his daughter Hannah, his son, Erich, and his soon to be daughter-in-law, Nancy. He is also survived by his siblings Leddie (Orman)Wilson, Marilyn (Moe) LeCavalier, Duane(Cheri) Heilman, Marlene Fouts, David (Patti) Heilman, Cindy (Clint) Marshall, Elaine Heilman and Peter (Tina) Heilman Additionally, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, their families, as well as his Sutton family. He is preceded in death by his father Edmund, his mother Maggie, and his brothers, Jack and Mark.
The world is a better place for having had him in it, and the people who knew him are better for having known him.
Per his wishes, there will be no funeral or service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local hospice care facility.
