Victoria Pastrana, 92 years old, of the Brownstown area passed away on July 28th. Victoria was born on February 4th, 1930 in Ordway, Colorado to Jose and Cesaria Lopez Pastrana. The family went on and grew to include 13 amazing children who were taught the meaning of family, faith, and hard work. Victoria graduated from Ordway High School and shortly after the family moved to the Harrah area where she worked as an agriculture laborer with her family. They moved to Parker, Washington in 1953. After moving Victoria worked at Bayly Jean Manufacturing. After Bayly closed she started a business with co-workers called, R’s making and selling jeans for 5 years. Victoria went on to work at Western RV and then retired from Inland Fruit Packing Company. As a true hard worker, she had to keep busy and became a Foster Grandparent working in the Wapato and Mt. Adams School Districts for 23 years.
The impact Victoria had on the community was one of generosity, caring and tough love. Many children remember “Grandma Vic”, the help she provided in the classroom as well as her support in the crowd at many sporting events. Victoria was not shy to express her thoughts about a ref’s call or an opposing team’s attitude. Within her family Victoria helped care for her parents until they passed on. After that she resided with her sister Juanita and her brother-in-law Jim Zagelow. Victoria helped raise their children Sara Norman Zagelow and Paul Zagelow.
Victoria was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Lupe Madayag, Irene Guevara and her brothers Joe, Marcelino, Eusebio, Gil, and Emilio. She is survived by her sister Juanita (Jim) Zagelow and brother Julio (Mary Lou) Pastrana; niece Sara (DJ) Zagelow Norman and their children Estella and Maddie; nephew Paul (Andera) Zagelow and their children Kaige and Kaityn. Special thanks to Paul Zagelow, Marsha Pastrana, Kaige Zagelow, Sara Zagelow Norman, Sandra Gaytan, Lily Isom and the Landmark Staff for your support in Victoria’s final days.
