Victoria Lynn Bredin (Tori Day) went home to heaven unexpectedly July 9th. She was born March 16, 1951, in Bremerton, WA to Neil and Carol Day. Growing up in Yakima, WA she relished her place in the family of 6 children- the oldest girl, or second mother. Her childhood was filled with time at her grandfather’s church in Bremerton and beach and summer camp excursions with her family. In 1969, she graduated from Davis High School. After graduating from Seattle Pacific College, Tori married in 1972. That marriage brought her two daughters, Holli and Kelli.
She was a champion mother, leaving her kindergarten teaching job to pour all her love into her two girls. In 1990, Tori and her daughters moved back to Yakima. Tori was a loyal companion and caregiver to both of her parents until the very end of their lives.
Her absolute pride and joy were her four grandchildren: Mark, Emma, Kylie, and Luke. She was their “Nani,” Hawaiian for “queen.” She never missed any of her grandchildren’s events, always had fruit stripe gum in her purse, and would read books until her voice grew hoarse. She spent much time teaching her grandchildren about the love of Jesus and she was quick to share her faith with anyone who would listen.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God not as a result of works.” Eph. 2:8-9
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, for who so ever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
We take comfort in knowing we will be with her in heaven one day. She is survived by her daughters Kelli Bredin, & Holli Stephens (Paul), as well as her four grandchildren, Mark, Emma, Kylie, & Luke Stephens. She is preceded in death by her parents, Neil and Carol Day.
A celebration of Tori’s life will be held at Eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Westside Church (6901 W Summitview Ave.) In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent in her honor to Samaritan’s Purse to benefit Dr. William Moultray, project code #005220.
