Vernon Deknikker

On August 27th 2022, Vernon R. De Knikker, beloved son, husband, father and grandfather passed away from his long battle with cancer. He was 66 years old. He was born and raised in rural South Dakota before joining the Navy and moving to California with his wife and high school sweetheart Vickie. They eventually settled in Washington state to raise their family. Vern was an avid outdoorsman and was happiest when enjoying nature and working outdoors. He worked most of his adult life for the same company and made many lifelong friends through that work. He was a loyal friend, willing and eager to go above and beyond for any friend or neighbor. Vern is survived by his parents Ed and Lillian De Knikker of Gettysburg, SD, his siblings Violet Deknikker of Chapel Hill, NC and Paul Deknikker of Devil’s Lake, ND, his wife Vickie De Knikker of Zillah, WA, his children Sharon and Lyndon Payne of St. Marys, GA and Kim and Dave Cutler of Centennial, CO, and his grandchildren Lars, Ian, Alex, DJ, Layla, and Morgan. Vern did not wish to have a funeral and so a celebration of life will be planned by the family at a later date.
