Verna Finley

Verna Finley 66 of Wapato, Wa. passed away peacefully at her home Saturday March 12, 2022. Verna was born on November 7, 1955 in Toppenish, Wa. to Richard Sr. & Irene Finley Verna was an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation. She was raised in Harrah, Wa. she graduated from Chemawa Indian school in 1974. she furthered her education at YVCC. Verna's hobbies were playing pool traveling to casinos and being in the mountains. Verna retired from the Yakama Nation Wildlife in 2018. She is proceeded in death by Richard Finley Sr., Irene Kahclamat Finley, 2 brothers: Oscar Finley Sr., and Richard “Sluggo" Finley Jr., 2 sisters: Alice Finley Dominquez, Susan Finley. along with paternal and maternal grandparents. She is survived by her son Richard Howard of Wapato Wa., 1 grandson Richard Howard Jr. of Satus, her companion Stacy Smartlowit of Wapato Wa. Sisters: Donna (Dennis) Adams, Elsie Finley both of White Swan Wa., Flora (Austin) Howtopat of Wapato Wa. and Mary Cree of Toppenish Wa. sister in-law Becky Finley of Wapato, WA, special sisters Maxine George of Zillah, Washington Myrna Washines of Toppenish, Washington 2 children which she had custody of D'Angelo Smartlowit, Claudia Silva both of Wapato. Her special nephew's Randy Finley of Wapato, Harry, Leslie, and Kennedy Iness Finley of Toppenish. 2 special nieces Lena Iness Finley, and Leah Cebrero both of Toppenish Wa. blessed with many neices, nephews and relatives. Funeral arrangements are with Valley Hills Funeral Home in Wapato on Tuesday March 15, 2022 private dressing services close to immediate family only. transporting to the 1910 Shaker Church White Swan Wa. short services will start at 8:30am burial will follow at the 1910 Cemetery.
