Vera F Schmidt, 84, of Yakima, passed away from this earth and into Jesus Christ’s arms on September 29th, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren at her home. Vera was born on September 29th, 1931 in Ducklington, England to Charles and Miriam (Busby) Parrott. Vera was raised in Ducklington England where she frequented the local movie theater, parking her bicycle in the cemetery so it wouldn’t be stolen. She met the love of her life, Martin S Schmidt of Rosoe, South Dakota, while he was stationed in England. They married on December 29th in 1951 in Witney, Oxford, England.
Vera was a selfless homemaker who raised their 3 children. Vera always had a home full of grandchildren and others she babysat while keeping up her famous baked goods, known all around the neighborhood. Vera served in her church as a preschool teacher for 30 years.
Vera is survived by her 3 children, Karen & Ron Schmidt, of Pasco, Kenneth & Karen Schmidt, of Yakima, and Joy & Randy White, of Vancouver, WA. She is also survived by 1 brother, of Witney England, and 8 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin S Schmidt, her parents, Charles and Miriam Parrott, and her brother, Ken Parrott.
