Velma Billbe

Velma May (Dryden) Billbe went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 25, 2015 with family by her side in Portland, OR at the age of 91. She was born in Kansas on August 20,1924 to Elmer and Nora Dryden who preceeded her in death. She married Junior D. Billbe on May 3, 1945 in Kansas where she and Junior tried their hand at farming – they soon found out they were not made to be farmers. They soon followed here sister and brother in law (Fred and Opal Uthmann) to the Yakima Valley finally settling in Zillah in 1948 where she became a housewife and later as her family grew up she worked out of the home doing mostly cashier work. She was preceeded in death by Junior in 2001 She was a very caring and giving person who will be well remembered by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for the large gatherings during the holidays – she always made sure that she prepared all our favorites. In her spare time, Velma enjoyed gardening and canning. One of her greatest joys was her religion. She enjoyed her Sunday church services and Wednesday evening prayer meetings. Velma was preceded in death by her brothers Howard Dryden and Paul Dryden and by a sister Opal (Dryden) Uthmann Velma is survived by her three children; Janice (Billbe) Hays and husband Gary, Gary Billbe and wife Nancy and Joyce (Billbe) Adkins and husband Wayne; Grandchildren, Geoff, Tammi, Ian, Troy, Travis and Tenille, Stephanie and David; Great grandchildren, Brice, Nikki and Jamie, Grant, Dana, Tory, Tiare, Alec, Aquadia, Krystal, Sarah, Sierra and Maddie, Maci, Dereck, Aimee, Weston and Walker; Great-Great Grandchildren, Ella. Funeral Services for Velma will be held on Monday August 31 at 11 a.m.at the Valley Hills Funeral Home, 607 Second Ave, Zillah, WA 98953.
