Tony Moser

August 7, 1927 — October 12, 2015

After using every bit of talent and strength that God gave him, Anton “Tony” Moser, 88, of Yakima, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015, at Cottage in the Meadow. Born August 7, 1927 in Burnstad, North Dakota, he was the youngest son of Michael and Alicia Moser. He is preceded in death by all 6 of his brothers and 1 sister, and is survived by Cecilia Moser, his faithful wife of 66 years, 4 loving sisters (Dorothy Weishaar, Mary Maygra, Alice Sutley, and Tracy O’Bara, all of Yakima), his sons John Moser, of Kennewick, and David Moser and his wife Janet, of Yakima, as well as 5 grandchildren and 4 great-granddaughters, all of whom adored him. The son of German immigrants, Tony developed an unparalleled work ethic, beginning on his family’s farm and continuing throughout his faithful service to his country in the United States Army, and his long career at Sears Lumber and in the construction trade; working into his mid-70s. Even in retirement, Tony was busy, whether it was thinking up innovative solutions to projects or repairs, or walking four to five miles every day. He was always the first to give of his time, talent, and treasure to family, friends, and those in need. There was nothing he couldn’t do…except keep a straight face. He had a wonderful sense of humor that often got him into trouble; a trait that he maintained even in his final days. He leaves a legacy of laughter and love, and walking shoes that no one could ever fill. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at Valley Hills Funeral Home on Thursday, October 22, at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Tony’s friend, Monseigneur John Ecker at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Friday, October 23 at 10:00 a.m., followed by inurnment at Calvary Cemetery. His family would also like to offer our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Memorial Hospice and Cottage in the Meadow, who treated Tony with love and compassion in his final days and provided overwhelming support to our family.
