Tommy Richards

May 19, 1953 — May 12, 2014

Tom Earl Richards, 60, of Zillah passed away May 12, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born May 19th, 1953 as the oldest of 4 children to Thomas and Kay Richards. He attended East Bremerton High School and joined the army in 1972. In 1976 he met the love of his life, Laura Delvo. In 1979 they were married, and started their family having two girls Angela and Leanne. They moved to the Yakima Valley in 1986 and Tom worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Tom’s greatest joy in life was his family. He and Laura were happily married 35 years. He raised his girls to have the same strong willed independent spirit he had. His grandchildren Maverick and Layla Jo brought him immense joy. Maverick is his best working buddy and Layla is Grandpa’s favorite girl. Together the 3 of them love monster trucks, digging in the dirt and eating popsicles. In 2012, Tom received a second chance at life when he received an organ transplant. It truly is the gift of life and we will be forever grateful for the generosity of the donor’s family. Tom was preceded in death by his father Thomas and his sister Leanne. He is survived by his wife Laura, daughters Angela (Brad) Purdy and Leanne (David) Myers, two grandkids Maverick and Layla, two brothers Boyd and Henry; and his mother Kay. At his request there will be no services. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah is in care of the arrangements. Online tributes for Tom can be left at valleyhillsfh.com.
