Timothy Harris

February 23, 1962 — October 14, 2016

Timothy Dean Harris, 54, of Sunnyside, passed away Oct. 14, 2016, at Sunnyside Community Hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1962, in Lamar, Mo., to Neil Dean Harris and Mary Judith (Thomas) Jones.Tim was a straight-forward kind of guy. He’d come across as critical and sometimes said what a person wouldn’t want to hear, but it was usually from the heart and he’d say and do things thinking it was the best way to help them.He had a big, caring heart and would do what he could to help someone, if that was someone he cared about. He loved animals, especially dogs. His dog, Tinker Bell, was his whole world and more than just a dog. It was his friend and companion. He also adored his sister, Dyan’s chihuahua, named Gidget, who will be greeting him in Heaven. Tim had genuine respect for our military vets. He loved to fish, camp and travel. Tim enjoyed living in Missouri and in Leavenworth, despite the tourists whom he referred to as terrorists. He surely had a sense of humor. There is no doubt he loved to eat at “all-you-can-eat” restaurants, and that he did. Tim is survived by his mother, Mary, and stepfather, James Jones; sisters, Dyan Allen, Lisa Holley and Trisha Harris; several step-brothers, step-sisters; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents. A Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 29, at Holy Trinity Episcopal in Sunnyside. With a reception to follow. Condolences may be sent to www.valleyhillsfh.com. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside is in care of arrangements.
