Obituary for Thomas Roy Powers
Thomas R. Powers passed away April 23, 2023. Tom was born in Aberdeen, Washington to Clyde and Laurena Powers, the youngest of four children. He attended elementary through high school in Harrah and White Swan. Tom joined the US Air Force right out of school and worked as a Physical Training Instructor for flight school candidates in Arizona. When Tom was finished with his tour, he worked as a disk jockey, a position that allowed him to meet several Country Music Legends. Over the course of his career, he worked for KOTY and OK95 in Kennewick. Tom then entered into over the road truck driving and enjoyed traveling for over 20 years before setting back down in the Wapato area. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Richard (Dick), and sister Gaylene, and survived by his sister Lucetta and his three daughters, Michelle, Kimberly, and Stephanie.
His passion was singing and playing his guitar, dancing with his late wife Polly, and fishing. He was a great fan of Bugs Bunny, the Seattle Seahawks, and cooking his beer basted barbeque chicken and teriyaki steak fingers. A patriot, his favorite holiday was the 4th of July, which he celebrated with childlike enthusiasm and pride.
We will always carry his memory in our hearts.
"There will be a potluck following the memorial service at Tom's sister Lucetta's home."
