Thomas Milton Carlton, age 82, of Yakima passed away on February 26, 2017. He was born May 20th, 1934 to M. Juanita Melton and John Thomas Carlton in Willington Texas. At a young age he moved to the state of WA. His school age years were spent in Yakima WA up to attending Yakima High. He joined the Navy at age 17 as a gunners-mate. After his time in the Navy, Tom worked various jobs; one of which was helping to build Eisenhower H.S. In 1960 he moved his family to Seattle WA where he worked for Boeing until the early 70's when he moved his family back to Yakima and went to work for the City Street Dept. Tom retired from the Street Dept. in the early 90's.
Tom is survived by his wife, Patricia of Yakima, daughter Karan Simms (Villa Rica, GA) Kelly Stevenson (Bryan) Yakima, Debra Tibbett (Robert), Lynette Taylor (Larry) Yakima, son Stephen Carlton (Charlie) of Yakima, Daughter Cheryl Robertson (Erik) Everett WA and son Milton Carlton of Yakima. He is survived by 3 step-children, Audrey Rudorfer (Gary) and Judy Johnson (Scott) both of Selah and Margaret Spies (Mark) of East Wenatchee; His oldest sister Genevieve Jackson of Yakima, sister Clovis Ford (Robert) of Berkley, Calif., brother John Carlton (Joan) of Kennewick WA, and sister Janel Palmer (Kerry) of Bonny Lake WA; and a special daughter Pam McWalters. Tom has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews that survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Shyla, brother James and sister Frances.
Visitation will be 12noon- 5:00 pm, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel (Yakima). Funeral will be 1:00pm, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel (2600 Business Ln, Yakima). Burial with Military Honors will be at Terrace Heights Memorial Park following the service. Reception will follow at the VFW Post 379 (118 S. 5th Ave., Yakima).
