Thérèse Joy Taylor, 84, died Sunday, November 8, in Yakima, WA, following a sudden illness.
Mrs. Taylor was born on December 21, 1930, in Oxford, England, to Phyllis (Beskeen) and Sidney Richard Boreham. She was raised in Oxford and after finishing her education, joined the British Royal Navy.
After completion of her service, she emigrated to the United States, eventually settling in Florida, where she met her husband, Robert Eulon Taylor. They married on March 13, 1958, and after his discharge from the U.S. Air Force, moved to Renton, WA, where he worked for the Boeing Company.
The family moved to Sunnyside, WA, in 1964, where Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker. Later she became a home sales representative for Avon and was with the company for almost 20 years. In 1978 her husband became disabled from severe heart disease, and she cared for him at home until his death in 1984. In 1993, she retired and moved to a new home in Yakima, WA. She became an active member of the New Hope Church of the Nazarene in Yakima, where she was a member for 22 years.
She is survived by her sisters, Anne Spang of Willoughby, Ohio, and Josephine Taylor of Gardena, CA; her sons, Jeremy Boreham of Oxford, UK, and Richard Taylor, Boise, ID; her daughters Veronica Hackney of Stoke on Trent, UK; Susan Forney of Dedham, MA; Laura Scofield of Maple Valley, WA, and Elizabeth Geffre of Yakima, WA. She also is survived by 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, and her sister, Paula Bailhache, preceded her in death.
A celebration of her life will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, November 13, at New Hope Church of the Nazarene, (29 Channel Drive, Yakima, WA, 98901). Interment will follow in Terrace Heights Memorial Park, Yakima, WA. Valley Hills Funeral Home is caring for the family.
