Terry Lynn Johnson, a longtime resident of Naches, Washington, went home to be with the Lord on March 18, 2026, at the age of 87.
Terry was born on March 9, 1939, in Yellville, Arkansas, to Woodrow and Velma (Mitchell) Johnson. During his school years, he was a proud member of the Yellville High School basketball team.
As a young man, Terry moved to the Yakima area, where he worked in the fruit industry. He married Shirley Crawford, and together they had two children, Rita and Danny.
Terry worked as a foreman at McPhee Orchard and later retired from Price Warehouse.
He remained deeply devoted to his Arkansas family, frequently traveling home to visit his parents and sister, and staying in close contact with his many cousins, aunts, and uncles throughout the years.
After retirement, Terry enjoyed a quiet life centered around his home. He took pleasure in caring for his cats, working on crossword puzzles and word searches while listening to the radio, smoking his tobacco pipe, watching sports on TV, and walking to the post office.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Velma Johnson; his sister, Connie; his son-in-law, John Rixie; and his daughter-in-law, Judy (Sprau) Johnson.
Terry is survived by his children, Rita Rixie and Danny Johnson; his grandchildren, Amanda Rixie-Pacheco, Kellie Rixie, Jennifer Holmstrom, John Rixie, Joshua Johnson, Rashelle Johnson, and Jeremy Rixie; seven great-grandchildren; and dear friends and neighbors, Debbe, Tracy, and Don.
He will be laid to rest at Naches Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to his granddaughter, Amanda Rixie-Pacheco, a missionary to the Dominican Republic, at “giving.ag.org” (search: Rixie), a cause that was dear to Terry.
