Steven Lacquaye

January 2, 1955 — October 31, 2016

Steven Roger LacQuaye, went to be with Our Lord Monday morning of Oct, 31st, 2016. Steve was born to Robert and Rose LacQuaye on Jan. 2, 1955 at Fairchild Air Force Base. Steve had love of serving his Country and his community. Right after high school he enlisted in the Air Force where he got to travel to new places in the States and then stationed in Alaska. After the Air Force he went into the Police force, but he stayed in the Military as a Reserve; he worked for the YPD and the Sheriff’s Department. After a car accident in 1986, he was medically discharged from the Reserve and retired from the Police Force. He met his love, and his “better half”, Madaline (Jodi) Kitterman in the fall of 1976. They were married July 15, 1978. In April 1980, they welcomed their first child. Their second child, Jennifer, was born in Sept. 1985. With the help of God and love of family, Steven and Jodi climbed many hills together and tackled a few mountains. But they always had each other to lean against, and help pick each other up when they stumbled. The first light of their lives was born in 2005, Victoria Rose, 2007, Hannah Jo, 2008, Jessie Rose and Gideon Gabriel. Steve always said that if he knew how great being a grandparent was he would have had grandkids before having kids! His grandkids were his pride and joy. Steve loved his family, and did everything that he could for them. Steve had a passion for animals, and loved working with horses. He worked with horses up until he was physically unable to do so. He always had a special place in his heart for dogs, and dogs seemed to have a special attachment to him too. If there was a dog around they would be over by Steven, and he would be loving on them. Steve is preceded in death by both his parents, and one grandbaby. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jodi LacQuaye, daughter Jennifer (Brian) Gunter of Yakima. Sister Evonne LacQuaye of Yakima, brother Michael (Tracy) LacQuaye of Yakima; and several nieces and nephews; and so many more friends who have become family. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Wiley Union Church (2711 Wiley Road, Yakima, WA).
