Steven Emery

Steven L. Emery(Big Guy) of Zillah passed peacefully February 17, 2025 in Yakima at the age of 74. Steven was born in Colorado and was raised in the Yakima Valley. He graduated from East Valley High School and later joined the Navy in 1971. He took classes at YVCC for alcohol counseling and wine making, which was his passion. Steven was active in the Boy Scouts with his boys and helped coach the boys’ baseball team. He was involved in the lower valley pool league for years. His biggest career accomplishment was his vineyard, Emery and Sons, which he owned and operated for a large part of his adult life. Steve is survived by his wife for life, Carol Emery; 3 sons, Steve (Jennifer) Emery, Phil Emery, and Michael Allen; 2 stepdaughters; Krista(Gary) Goben, Lisa(Brad) Sappenfield and one stepson, James Steen; Daughter in Law, Marcy Emery; Janice Abodaca and Neddy Jameson; grandchildren, Macy, Drann, Aaron, Brycen, Trevor, Gavin, Jessica, Tina, Marisa, Dominick, Makayla, and Cameron; great grandchildren, Paeton, Kylee and Violet; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rachel and Theo Emery; son, Robert Emery; two sisters, Bobbi Russell and Joyce Browning; one brother, Sonny Emery; one stepson, Robert Steen Jr.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 2:00pm at The old Warehouse in Zillah.
