Loving Mom, Wife, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Great-great-grandmother, Foster Mom, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend went to Heaven on September 17, 2023 surrounded by family. She was born May 20, 1929, in Benewah County, ID to Sam and Margaret (Vallee) Friedlander. She was a member of the Colville Tribe and married to Leslie H. Wahsise Sr. and they had 13 children, 35 grandkids, 67 great-grandkids and 16 great-great-grandkids and survived by her 10 children Leslie Jr.-(Wilma), Sam, MaryJane, Jim-(Marti), Grace-(Louie), Alice, Annie-(Randy), Elizabeth, Isabel-(Kenny), Joe Wahsise and BJ Corpuz. Also, survived by Jim Abrahamson Sr., Diana Friedlander, Barbara Aria, Stacy Wahsise, Ruth Tahkeal. Proceeded in death by spouse Leslie H. Wahsise Sr., daughters Katherine, Paula and Son Paul-. She was the last of her siblings to be called to Heaven. Following sisters, Ebbie, Sissy, Gladys Bomache, Vi Abrahamson, Louella and Genevieve Friedlander, Shirley Palmer and Brothers David, Porky, Victor, and Leonard Friedlander and second husband Wilson Thompson. Grandchildren Dustin Wahsise Sr., Roger Puyette Jr., Lorena Sweowat, Great- Joe Jackson, Kelly Zick, Steve Bueno III, Nicholas, Jacob, Regina Martin, AJ Wahsise, Mina Billings and son-laws Tex George Jr and Roger Puyette Sr. She married Wilson Thompson they had cattle with the WST Brand. She worked all her life to raise her family by working in the fields, business owner of the “Ace of Clubs”, Fire camp crew, nurses aid, seamstress, foster parent. She was awarded Washington State Indian Foster Parent of the year. Her family was the most important thing in her life, and she always made sure they would take care of each other as she taught them. One thing she wanted for her children was to receive their Indian names,along with niece Ann Ford in which she accomplished. She welcomed every newborn grandchild and the greats. She was an avid gambler of stick game, Waluksha, horse racing, bingo and slots. Cheerleader for ACE Pool teams, Basketball & Softball Teams. She enjoyed goodwill, yard sale shopping and family get togethers. She grew up in Worley, ID where she had many adventures with her siblings. She honored her father Sam Friedlander during the Nespelem Pow-wow, and we were all given yellow shirts to honor him, it was a Friedlander Reunion. She watched out for the homeless giving them blankets, change and food. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren and greats, nieces and nephews and friends and family. Matriarch a woman who is the head of a family or tribe the Mother proceeds to the status of a Matriarch. She was devout catholic who prayed daily for her family.
