STACY R. JOHNSON (September 20, 1972 – July 16, 2017)
Stacy R. Johnson, 44 of Yakima passed away at Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital on Sunday, July 16, 2017 following a brief, brave battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on September 20, 1972 to Arnie and Kathy Johnson. Growing up in Yakima, he loved riding his motorcycle, playing baseball, and also enjoyed outdoor outings with his family, never missing an opportunity to tease his little sister Tangie, all in good fun.
Stacy met his future wife Trena when they were 15, and have been inseparable since then, marrying at age 18, on July 26, 1991. The births of their son Cody (1991) and daughter Stacie (1996) completed their family. Together, they enjoyed life, always appreciating the little things. Stacy was hard working, forever putting his family’s needs above all else. He was an awesome Dad and loved spending time with his kids, whether it was a family vacation or a quick road trip to Rainer, he valued this time spent together and was so very proud of all their accomplishments. He attended all their sporting events, helped coach various teams and served as a volunteer at many events.
Stacy worked for nearly 20 years at Pexco Aerospace, first in production, then in Die Development, and most recently as a supervisor. He was well-respected and appreciated by his superiors and co-workers alike and served as a mentor for many at Pexco. Stacy’s easy going nature made it easy to forge significant and long lasting friendships, he is greatly missed by his Pexco family.
Stacy had a passion for classic cars, especially Mustangs, but he could appreciate an occasional “damn Chevy”, however wouldn’t admit that to many people! He enjoyed attending car shows and loved working on cars as well. He was known to forgo his own projects many times to help someone else get their dream on the road, and was happy to do so!
Stacy was best known for his generosity and good nature. He would help just about anyone such as a pregnant stranger needing a bus ticket to get home for the holidays or someone stranded on the side of the road. To say that he would give you the shirt off his back is an understatement. Stacy was one of the good guys.
Stacy is survived by his wife, Trena (Wolfe) Johnson of Yakima, son Cody (Salina) Johnson of Yakima, daughter Stacie Johnson, United States Navy; parents Arnie and Kathy Johnson of Selah; sister Tangie (Dennis) Nelsen of Richland; nephews Justice Johnson and Evan Nelsen; niece Alexis Nelsen; maternal grandmother Aurdina Cyr of Yakima; mother-in-law Linda Armstrong of Yakima; father-in-law Larry Wolfe of Yakima; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and paternal grandparents.
A celebration of Stacy’s life will be held on Saturday, July 29th at 4:00 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Terrace Heights (2600 Business Ln., Yakima, WA). The celebration will continue at Chesterly Park in Yakima. Dress is casual as Stacy would have wanted it that way!
The family would like to thank family and friends for their generosity and support during this extremely difficult time, especially Stacy’s Pexco family. We are truly heartbroken but the outpouring of love and admiration for Stacy has given us great comfort.
