Sidney “Pete” Peterson, 68, of Union Gap passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 13, 2018. He was born in Yakima, WA on May 23, 1949 to the late Sidney and Lina (Hicks) Peterson. He is preceded in death by his parents Lina and Sidney, siblings Sherry Gilliam and Robert Peterson, two nieces and his beloved Punkin.
The oldest of eight children, Sid quit school at a young age to help support his family. That instilled his strong sense of responsibility and work ethic. He spent most of his life in the Yakima Valley, raising children Veronica Roberts of Lake Stevens and Marty Peterson of Yakima. In 1981, he met JerriLynn and they married in July 1986. They made their home in Naches, eventually moving to Union Gap where he lived until his death.
Sid was employed as a maintenance mechanic at Noel Canning for 35 years. He retired early to work with his son at Pete’s Bail Bonds. He enjoyed travelling to Disneyland with JerriLynn as well as motorcycles, hot rods and car racing. Spending time with his family and fur babies was always a priority for Sid.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, JerriLynn; children Veronica Roberts (Jay) and Marty Peterson (Dina); siblings Jeanie Lidke, Ted Peterson, Lavina Jones, Jim Peterson and Esther Hargraves; grandchildren Kaleb, Dylan, Kolten and Zen as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Pete’s Life will be 11am, Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Square Dance Hall (207 E Charron Rd, Moxee, WA 98936).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Yakima Valley Pet Rescue or the Yakima Humane Society.
