Shirley Alder

March 30, 1944 — April 26, 2024

Shirley (Guymer) Alder passed away at the age of 80 on the 26th day of April 2024. Shirley was born in Chataunsee, Louisiana on the 30th day of March 1944, to Ray and Dorthy Guymer. She married John Alder in 1963 and they moved to Yakima, Washington. Shirley loved her family deeply and her friends the same way. Even in the hard times, she would be there for everyone. She loved when her grandson was with her as well as spending time with her two grandchildren. Shirley loved to draw and when she was younger, she would paint Christmas scenes on the local businessmen windows. Shirley loved bowling with her family and friends. She bowled for years until she was no longer able to and with the love of bowling, instead of giving up going, Shirley started working at a bowling alley. Crocheting was a hobby of hers and she loved crocheting baby blankets for all of the grandchildren of her friends. Shirley is survived by her brother Freddy Guymer, daughter Lisa (Brian) Rolstad, grandson Michael Rippy and two greats, Tabbitha Rippy and Chance Rippy. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Ray and Dorothy Guymer and her beloved sister Sue, best friend and roommate Sue Renteria who passed 7 weeks prior to Shirley. From Shirley and her daughter Lisa, the biggest debt of gratitude goes to Keisha Najera and Tanja Najera, for taking such good care of everything from finances to appointments with the doctors to giving Shirley her med's every day, they just were not help to us, but friends who took care of everything. I would also like to give a big thank you to Darcy Dugger from Willow Springs to who I wouldn't have found without Tanja. She as well took the best care and watched over mom like an Angel. So, thank you so very much to the three of you! There will be no funeral services for mom. However, please watch Facebook under Lisa Rolstad for information. We will plan some type of get together for John and Shirley, with friends and family. Donations can be made in her honor to any animal advocacy group of your choice. Valley Hills Funeral Home is caring for the family. www.valleyhillsfh.com. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Shirley Alder, please visit our flower store.
