Sharon Zack

Sharon Spencer Zack, daughter of Catherine and James J. Spencer Jr. passed away peacefully January 26, 2019 at Cottage in the Meadow surrounded by her loved ones. She met Danny Zack at McKinley Church and was a lifelong resident of Wapato except when they transferred to work sites. Danny worked for Goodfellow Bros. Road Construction. They lived in Wenatchee, Omak, Cañon City, Colorado, and Livingston, Montana. When he was transferred to Hawaii, Sharon put her foot down. She preferred staying home with her grandchildren. Sharon was a home-maker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, sewing, puzzles, reading, and corresponding to extended family. She always made a pot of coffee for drop-in visitors. Sharon is an enrolled Yakama. She attended schools in Toppenish until she married Danny Christmas of 1948. They had five daughters and one son: Shirley (Robert) Ortega of Yakima, Stuart (Teresa) of Yakima, Vivian (David) Rocha of Wapato, Chris (Doug Jr.) Olney of Wapato, and Mary Zack of Wapato. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter Janice, her parents, two brothers, and five sisters. She is survived by her children, sister Marlene from Toppenish, brother Louie (Teresa) from Toppenish, sister Elaine from Portland, and many loved grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended relatives. The family thanks Purchased Referred Care, Dr. Rory Sumners, Cancer Care Alliance, Virginia Mason Memorial, Doreen at Landmark Care, Cottage in the Meadows, and North Star Lodge. Visitation will be Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Wapato, WA with the funeral service immediately to follow at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home.
