Sharon Cheney passed peacefully on October 16, 2025 at Emerald Care Home in Wapato WA. She was born September 21, 1940 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Yakima, WA. to Richard Sr. and Martha Cheney.
Sharon attended Wapato Schools and was a graduate of Heritage University in Toppenish WA earning a Bachelors of Science in Social Work. Most of her career was dedicated to Caregiving where she was the Director of Assisted Living Home in Wapato and later was employed in Home Health Care.
Sharon is survived by her children, David Simmons (Doris) of Yakima, Wesley Simmons of Kingston AZ, Rocky Simmons (Laura) of Sunnyside and Jeannie Olivas of Selah. She was also blessed with 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and one sister Edna Perez of Mt Vernon.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Richard Sr. and Martha Cheney, Brothers; James Cheney and Richard Cheney Jr. & Daughter Kim Cruz.
A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Wapato, Wa. Viewing is from 9:00-11:00 am with a Funeral Service beginning at 11 a.m. In accordance with Sharon’s wishes a private burial of ashes will be held at a later date.
