Obituary

Sharon Kay (Guy) Emery, 76, left us to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on the afternoon of Thursday, November 13th, 2025. Sherry was surrounded by her children and family members.

Sherry was born to her parents, Leland Aldo Guy and Mildred (Millie) (Richmond) Guy, in Kirksville, Missouri, on July 8th, 1949. Thereafter the Guy family moved to the Yakima Valley area of Granger, WA to farm and raise their children.

Sherry was a Christian who enjoyed studying her Bible, attending church, and fulfilling her duties as Vacation Bible School director at First Baptist Church in Granger, WA.

Sherry loved watching sports and rooting for her favorite teams, and she frequently attended her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s sports, plays, and events.

Sherry loved doing crossword and word search puzzles, cross-stitching and embroidery, and leading a chapter of Boy Scouts in Granger, WA, which her late son, Robbie Emery, was a member of.

Sherry was educated at Granger High School in Granger, WA, and later attended YVCC in Yakima, WA, where she often made the Dean’s List.

Sherry met and married Steven Emery and together they raised a family of 5 children: Lavonda (Vonna) (Guy) Bird and husband Ken, son Kyle W. Omta and great-granddaughters Kylie Faith and Valerie Grace Omta of West Valley, Yakima, WA.

Son Michael Dale Allan of Pasco, WA.

Son Robbie L. Emery and wife Marci, sons Brycen, Trevor, and Gavin Emery, all of Zillah, WA.

Son Stevie L. Emery and wife Jennifer, son Aaron Nott, and granddaughter Paeton Nott of Granger, WA.

Youngest son Phillip D. Emery and partner Dana Phillips, granddaughter Macey Emery and grandson Drann Emery of Zillah, WA.

Sherry is survived by her big sister Karen (Guy) Oord and her children.

Brother Eddie D. Guy and his children, Brother Pastor Bob L. Guy and wife Rena Guy and children of Zillah, WA.

Sister Letha R. (Guy) Taunt and children of Spokane, WA.

Baby sister Patty L. (Guy) Aparicio and husband Jose, and children of Prosser, WA.

And numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Leland Aldo Guy and Mildred (Millie) (Richmond) Guy, brother Larry L. Guy, sister Ruth E. (Guy) Barry, big brother Gary D. Guy, her middle son Robbie L. Emery, sister-in-law Deania (Carmichael) Guy, brothers-in-law: Tom Taunt, Garrett H. Oord, nephew Dustin L. Guy.

Sherry’s children wish to express tremendous and sincere gratitude to Providence Saint Mary’s Hospital, doctors, and staff, in Walla Walla, WA, and to Heartlinks Hospice of Sunnyside, WA, for their excellent care, and for making our Mom’s last days peaceful.

Viewing and memorial services to be at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA on Friday, November 21, 2025 starting with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., burial to follow at Outlook Cemetery. Reception to follow at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside.
