Shannon Henderson

September 4, 1946 — May 15, 2023

Shannon L.T. (Mayer) Henderson, age 76 passed away on May 15, 2023 in Cowiche. She was born to RC (Bob) and Alice (Kemp) Mayer on September 4,1946. She enjoyed growing up in Cowiche, with her three brothers Calvin, Doyle, and Rocky. As a teenager she was most fond of the opportunity to travel to Japan to visit her brother Rocky. She attended grade school in Cowiche and graduated from Yakima Central Catholic in 1964. She attended beauty school and worked as a beautician for 10 years. Shannon met and then married her soul mate Vernon Henderson on July 19, 1969, and they remained married until his passing in July, of 2001. She enjoyed working outdoors picking apples for various farms in the fruit industry including the Evaporator. If you knew Shannon, she picked faster than most others around her. She finally retired from Tree Top. Shannon, in her younger years enjoyed time with family horseback riding, picking huckleberries, attending the kids sporting events, repairing antique furniture and teaching herself how to bead and do quillwork. She was most proud of her beaded cane. She was very fond of animals, and spending time with her grandchildren. Later in life she spent many hours on the computer tracking down and compiling the family genealogy and finding out how far her family lineage would go back. Enjoyed rides to the mountains and all of Allan’s meals. Shannon is survived by her beloved dog Pete, her brother Doyle Mayer (Ann)of Yakima, and her son Michael Henderson (Kristi) of Cowiche, daughter Christiana Bell (Allan) of Cowiche, and daughter Latisha Riddle (Matt) of Cowiche. Five grandchildren Katie Gray of Selah, Craig Swanson III of Bonney Lake, Trey Johnson of Yakima, Kiara Johnson of Cowiche, Colton Henderson of Yakima, 5 great grandchildren Dominik and Emmaline Gray, Ozias and Alize Johnson, and Hailie Henderson, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
