Scott Douglas Laws, 51, of Yakima died on February 24, 2014. Scott was born to Jimmy and Neoma (Jerry) Laws in Oshkosh, WI. Scott’s father, Jimmy, was a career officer in the Marine Corps so Scott lived in Wisconsin and North Carolina in his early childhood. His father retired in 1970 and moved his family to Zillah, WA. Scott graduated from Zillah High school and pursued police work, working for Zillah, Toppenish and Wapato police departments for over 10 years. Scott worked a variety of jobs over the years and was working for the Union Gospel Mission just before his death. Survivors include his wife, Serena, son Van, daughters Kayla and Alex, father Jimmy, two brothers Jim and Randy and sister Laurie. Scott is preceded in death by his mother Jerry and two sisters Shannon and Sharon. Scott is also survived by his numerous brothers and sisters in Christ at the Union Gospel Mission. Memorial services will be at Faith Community Church in Zillah Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 2 pm., followed by a light lunch. Arrangements are by Valley Hills of Zillah.
