Sara Saenz Barrera was born in La Grulla, Texas on August 20, 1930 and passed August 21, 2019. She is Survived by her husband of 71 years, Enrique Barrera and 10 children: Viviana & (Manuel) Ramirez, Alta Barrera Peal & (Javier Perez), Enrique Jr & (Graciela) Barrera, Ana Maria Escamilla, Blanca Alicia & (Raul Mendoza), Felix & (Carmen) Barrera, Jose Luis & (Nora) Barrera, Donato Barrera, Emilia & (Martin) Salinas, Sergio & (Elizabeth) Barrera.
Sara had 38 Grandchildren, 86 Great-Grandchildren and 7 Great Great-Grandchildren.
Sara and Enrique would migrate yearly from Texas to Washington for seasonal work. They settled and bought a home in Grandview, WA in 1960. Sara instilled the value of honesty in her children and motivated them to search for a better life through hard work. She had an interest in knowing God and was an avid church-goer. Sara loved to have her children and great-grandchildren over at her home for Saturday ‘LOTERIA’ and Sunday brunch to serve her celebrated ‘CALDOS’ and ‘TORTILLAS’. Her favorite hobbies were quilting and cooking while listening to Tejano music. She often said, “Lets not think about the past, lets talk about the future.” Sara always opened her home and heart to family, friends, and all who passed through, never letting them leave with an empty stomach. She demonstrated UNCONDITIONAL LOVE and NEVER gave up on her children. She will be greatly missed.
