Samuel Whitefoot, Born in Toppenish, Washington on December 23, 1936 to Ambrose Whitefoot and Minnie McCoy Whitefoot. He was a grandson of Alex McCoy and Sally Sleeping McCoy. He left this world to be with the Creator and his loved ones that left before him on March 9, 2019. In his lifetime in the younger years, he was a two time Golden Glove Boxing Champion in the Army. He grew up at Celilo, Oregon and was a fisherman along the Columbia River all of his life. He loved being at the river. He was a veteran of the armed services in the Army. He also liked to hunt and provided food for the family for many years.
He married Alice Malloy (deceased) and had four children, Ralph Ambrose, Sandra Marvine, Sam, and Angela. He lived in Tri-cities and had his own style shop in Kennewick. He then moved to Seattle where he made many friends and built his hairstyling business and opened two style shops in downtown Seattle. He developed a unique way of hair weaving using the knots he learned to use in fishing. He even use to cut Mayor of Seattle Wes Ullman’s hair.
He moved back to the Yakima Valley and worked at Men’s Polo Shop. He then met Sandra Young and they were married. They have six children: Crystal, Alex, Courtney, Stephanie, Johnnie, Jennie and Jayden. Sam and Sandra continued to fish at the Columbia River and also had a firework stand at Horsethief Lake for many years. They attended the All Tribes Church in Wapato.
Sam had nine grandchildren Stephanie, Stephen, Andrea, Teresa, Lisa Bad Bear, Samuel Shae, Joseph, Rebecca, Amber, Jennie, Kaiden, Reese, Titus, and Madilyn. He had 40 great-grandchildren. Numerous relatives, nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents, brothers; Delmar, Russell, and Johnnie. Sisters: Mildred and Betty. Son Sam Whitefoot and daughter Angela Whitefoot.
Private family dressing at Valley Hills Funeral Home at 2:00, March 11, 2019, the body will then be taken to All Tribes Christian Church on Hwy 97 for dinner and evening services. Breakfast at 8:00, services at 10:00 a.m. Then the body will be moved to Terrace Heights Crematory. The family will return to have lunch at the All Tribes Christian Church.
