Sammy Gatlin

Sammy D. Gatlin, 77, of Yakima died Saturday. Mr. Gatlin was born in Larned, Kan. He moved to Sunnyside with his family when he was 9. He served in the Army as a paratrooper. He worked most of his life as a mechanic, but spent the last few years boxing groceries at the Nob Hill Safeway store. Survivors include four sons, Michael, Terry, Timothy and Theodore; and seven grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View Christian Fellowship in Yakima.
