A precious member of our family went into the arms of her personal Lord and Savior on April 3, 2015. She was born Ruby Edna Gallaway to Houston and Albye (Lucy) Gallaway on March 8, 1926, followed by two sisters, Jessie Faye and Ethel Mae. She met the love of her life Boyd Richardson in school and went on to marry him July 12, 1945. They had two daughters, Rosa Lee and Connie Ann. Ruby was a homemaker through and through, having three very short part time jobs but was happiest staying at home and taking care of her small family. She loved gardening whether it was flowers or vegetables and had a very green thumb. She loved to crochet (always had a project going), sewing cooking, baking, and helping out in many capacities in her church. She was a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene for many years. She never wanted to be waited on but always wanted to wait on someone else.
There were some lean years and some good years. Ruby was never rich in worldly goods but in family and friends she had untold riches. They always came through stronger than ever because of their complete faith in God and each other. There was never anyone she met that she didn’t try her hardest to make a friend (and she had many) and everyone that ever met her loved and respected her.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, Houston and Albye Gallaway, a grandson Ryan Kristofer Martin and many brothers and sisters in laws and a son in law Richard Burns.
Ruby is survived by her husband of 69 ¾ years of marriage, Boyd Richardson, Two daughters, Rosa lee Burns and Connie Ann (Doug) Martin, Four grandchildren Megan Martin, Mary Burns, Rick (Mary) Burns, and Molly (Brian) Morgan, Eight Great Grandchildren Seth Wagner, Ainsley, Elliot, and O’Neill Morgan, Katy Burns, Ryan Burns, Justin Robinson, Samantha Engh, two sisters, Jessie Faye Moody and Ethel Mae Metheny, plus many other family and friends.
We wish to thank everyone at Yakima Memorial Hospice and Cottage in the Meadow who took such special care of her in her final hours. Those wishing to make a donation in her name please do so to Yakima Memorial and Cottage in the Meadow. Ruby will be missed but still loved by all whose lives she touched.
