Roy Edward Holliday Jr. went home to his beloved Saviour Jesus Christ on December 5, 2019. A life well lived as a son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to many. Loved deeply for his gentle, cheerful, loving, generous and caring spirit. He graduated from Eastern Washington College of Education in Cheney, Washington. Roy’s was a full life of service and excellence in using his gifts of teaching and administration at the Medical Lake School District in Medical Lake, Washington. At his retirement after many years as a Business Administrator he was honored for his accomplishments by a dream trip to Washington D.C. and the high school football field was named “Holliday Field” after his years of dedicated work in the district. His life was dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ in generously donating caring gifts to the less fortunate, supporting his local churches and as a Sunday School teacher imparting to the next generation, the Word of God. He was a scout master, gifted gardener, camping enthusiast, saxophone musician, dog lover, photographer and family historian. Born in Lamont, Washington on December 3, 1926 to Roy E. Holliday Sr. and wife Gladys with humble beginnings in the wheat country in Eastern Washington. He married his high school sweetheart Marjorie May Young on June 4, 1948. They enjoyed 71 years of married life together. He faithfully and lovingly cared for our Mom and was an example of sacrificial love and a solid marriage to all of us. He was preceded in death by his father Roy Holliday Sr., his mother Gladys and his brother Darrell Holliday. He is survived by his wife Marjorie Holliday, son Dean (Debra) Holliday, daughter Claudia (Jim) Worley, four grandchildren: Sherry (Daniel) Hastings, Natalie (Silas) Curfman, Sarah (AR) Arure, and Angela (Heath) Herd, eight great-grandchildren: Adia Curfman, Paige Herd, Aksel Curfman, Oliver Hastings, Emily Herd, Ana Bella Hastings, Lorena Arure, and Lana Arure. The family asks that any donations be directed to the Union Gospel Mission of Yakima, Washington or any homeless shelter of your choice in lieu of flowers. Sincere thanks to all neighbors, family, ambulance and fire department responders, skilled physicians and staff at Brookdale Assisted Living who provided help at a much needed time. A viewing has been scheduled for Thursday Dec. 12, at 12 pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima Chapel (2600 Business Ln., Yakima, WA 98901). Celebration of Life will take place immediately following the viewing at 1 pm. Final resting place will be Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
