Rose Materi

Rose H. Materi, 80, passed on April 5, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 5, 1932 in Strasburg, ND to Joachim & Margaret Keller. She was one of six children. She met John Materi at age 15 at a dance. John joined the Army and fought in the Korean War. They were married when he returned home and they spent 62 amazing years together. They had three children: Terry, Timothy, and Cynthia. Rose devoted her life to caring not only for her family, but for the elderly as well. She worked hard all of her life, but in her off time she loved traveling in their RV and camping with family and friends. She loved playing cards and she loved winning even more. Survivors include her husband, John of Yakima; son, Timothy of Puyallup; daughter, Cynthia Rose of Puyallup; sister, Maryann Keller of Des Moines; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Terry; three brothers, Pius, Leo, and James; and one sister, Elsie. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Yakima. Online condolences can be made at www.valleyhillsfh.com.
