Rosalyn Mae DeGraaf was born in Ellensburg, WA on March 24, 1940 to E.M. and Alice Carver. The family moved to Yakima to live near her grandmother while her father served in WWII. This developed an ongoing close relationship with her grandma, and one she kept up until her grandmother passed away. After her father returned from the war, the family moved to Prosser, WA were Rosalyn attended Prosser schools, graduating from Prosser high school in 1958. She attended CBC, taking classes in short-hand and typing, so she could enter the paralegal world. Her first job after finishing school was in the Benton County Prosecuting Attorney's office. She caught the eye of her future husband one night on Main street in Sunnyside, when she was hanging out with some friends. From that day forward they never left each other's side. Rosalyn married Henry DeGraaf on November 14, 1961 in his parents' home in Grandview, WA. They were by each other's side through life's ups and downs for the next 63 years.
After marrying she then went to work for the Grandview city attorney while also being a full time Mom. She decided to take a break from the legal world and went to work in the banking world. That didn't last long as she missed the legal world and started working with then attorney Rick Kimborough. Due to a medical diagnosis, she retired as a paralegal, and became a full time domestic engineer, fully enjoying days of shopping, and lunches with her sisters-in-law. And although she enjoyed being a mother, attending each of her boys' extra-curricular activities, volunteering whenever needed, and supporting them in all their lives adventures her favorite thing to do was spend time with her granddaughter. She relished being Grandma D. She also loved showering other kids' in her life, whether they were blood related or not. She rarely missed a birthday and made sure everyone was included in receiving Christmas gifts.
Rosalyn fought a good fight, and won her graduation to heaven on Monday, June 17, 2024. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Henry DeGraaf, her three sons Henry (LaVilla) DeGraaf, Mike DeGraaf, and Jeff (Amber) DeGraaf. Her granddaughter Zebrina (Benjamin) Hill, and great grandchildren Liam and Marcelline. She is also survived by her brother Ken (Kathy) Carver.
