Obituary

Rosa R. Polina, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, in Toppenish, Washington, at the age of 95. Born on August 30, 1930, in Donna, Texas, Rosa's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her deep-rooted love for the land and nature.

In 1969, Rosa moved with her family to Washington State, where she embraced her role as a farm laborer. She devoted her life to helping her husband, Felipe Sr., in every aspect of farming, from growing and feeding crops to corralling farm animals. Rosa officially retired in 1989, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and perseverance that defined her extraordinary life.

Rosa was known for her simple and good-natured spirit. Her family remembers her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend—an embodiment of love and warmth. She had an innate ability to bring joy to the lives of those around her. She delighted in gardening, often seen tending to her flowers, trees, and vegetables. Her husband affectionately called her "mi pollito" due to her passion for planting; she was always digging somewhere to grow something beautiful.

Rosa's creativity extended beyond gardening. She was an enthusiastic knitter, cross-stitcher, and seamstress, often crafting items that would bring comfort or joy to her loved ones. Her artistic flair was also evident in her penchant for painting anything she could lay her hands on outside, using whatever colors were available to her.

Rosa takes with her the love and memories of her surviving children: Maria L. (Jose) Palacios of Grandview, Simon Polina Sr., Rosalinda (Mark) Houfek of Yakima, Roberto (Consuelo) Polina Sr. of Toppenish, Felipe Polina Jr. of Toppenish, Patricia Polina of Grandview, Estela (Michael) Anderson of Toppenish, Maria Martina Polina of Toppenish, Juan (Norma) Polina, and Maria O. Polina of Toppenish. She is survived by 14 cherished grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her gentle presence.

Rosa is reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband Felipe Sr., and her two sons, Pedro Polina Sr. and Fernando Polina. Also watching over her from beyond are her parents and her three sisters, Audelia, Isabella, and Estefana, along with her brother Selestino Rodriguez, and her special niece, Susana Bocanegra, who held a dear place in her heart.

Rosa's family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the Multicare Hospice Team for the exceptional care provided during her final days. They were fortunate to have such compassionate support as they navigated this difficult time.

A viewing will take place on December 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah, Washington.
