He graduated with a degree in Education. He started his career as a teacher, went on to become a principal, and finally a superintendent for the East Valley School District. He was an avid golfer, loved to read, play cards and board games. Ron leaves behind his wife, Bonnie, of 34 years; a son, Kirk (Diane); two grandchildren, Kyle and Riley (Mitch). He also leaves behind step-children: Susan Bishop (Mike), Mikael Erickson (Tina), and Paul Erickson (Lisa); step-grandchildren: Jaime Solano (Henry), Lindsey Holmes (Jerrod), Sean Erickson (Heather), Aaron Erickson (Sami), and Danielle Erickson; five great step-grandchildren: Bella Joy, Sophia K, Henry II Solano, Mason Ronald and Orion Emerson Erickson. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Laura. The following is a farewell from his great granddaughter, Bella: “Papa, I really want you to know how much I love you. I love your big hugs so much and I wish I could be there to give you one right now. I’m thankful for your thoughtfulness and how you always brought me stuffed animals from your travels. You are the best Papa a girl could ever ask for. I love you so much, Bella.” Bella’s message says it for all of us. Rest in peace, Ron. You will be missed. At his request, a friends and family gathering will be held at a later date. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Ronald Whittaker, please visit our flower store.
