Ronald Roller

Ronald Robert Roller was born on January 2, 1952 in Yakima, WA. to Adolf and Minnie Roller. On the same day, in the same hospital, Roy Andreas was born. Ron and Roy met when they were 6 years old and became life-long friends sharing all of life adventures and challenges together. At 6 years old, Ron found his love for baseball and a bat and would follow that passion for many years. Ron was part of the Pee-Wee baseball team from 1960-1966 and later was on the All-Star team in 1968. Ron played for the Davis Pirates all through high-school and graduated in 1970. That same year, Ron married Karla Moore and played baseball for the American Legion. In 1971, Ron played baseball for Bellevue College where he was selected in the baseball free agent draft by the Oakland Athletics Minor League as an Outfielder. Ron returned home in 1972 for the birth of his daughter, Jennifer. In 1975 Ron played for the Pepsi Pak. Ron married Sharon Davis in 1976. In 1977, Ron played for the softball association where he was named “The Most Valuable Player”. Ron played hard through the years as a pitcher and outfielder. He ran hard and fast, but what was heard throughout his baseball years was “Man can he hit”. Ron worked for PDQ Foods. He was part owner of the Sports Page Tavern and he managed The Pastime Tavern. Ron worked for Miller Beer as well as owning a process serving business. Ron also worked for R&R Beverage, United Rentals and Reddy Ice until back problems forced an early retirement in 2014. On October 1, 1988 fishing at Buoy 10 was over so Ron drove back to Yakima where he happened to meet Carol Ann. Ron and Carol were later married in Coeur d’Alene Idaho on March 9, 1991. In August 2016 we found out that Ron had Lung Cancer. Ron made the decision to forego any treatment. Ron left us on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in the comfort of his home. Ron enjoyed a full life of baseball, bowling, darts, short board, shuffleboard, hunting, fishing, trap shooting, camping with friends and family while having fires the size of Volkswagen’s, smoking, drinking, loud music and 4-wheeling. Ron’s favorite thing to do was watching Dakota “The Rat” Johnson and Dane “The Mouse” Johnson play baseball. Ron was a happy guy. Ron is preceded in death by his brother Gene Roller, Father Adolf Roller and his second wife Sharon Trout, and his “Forever Friends” Ron “Z” Zielke, Stan Chalupa, Neil Durrette and Kenny Von Essen. Ron is survived by his wife C.A. Carol Ann, mother Minnie Roller, his sister Joan Roddy, his mother and father in law, Hank and Jeannette Ebbelaar and families.
